Panabo fighter Ancajas pencilled in to fight Tanzanian boxer in Pacquiao-Algieri undercard

INTERNATIONAL Boxing Federation (IBF) Pan Pacific super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas has been penciled in to fight in the undercard of the world welterweight championship match between eight-world division champion Manny Pacquiao and undefeated Chris Algieri in Macau on November 23.

The fighter from Panabo City in Davao del Norte will be pitted against Fadhili Majiha of Tanzania pending the approval of the boxing commission. The Tanzanian fighter has a 15-5-4 win-loss-draw record.

"Tumawag kasi si Coach Nonoy (Neri) at sinabi na hinahanapan na ngayon ng kalaban si Jerwin para isali sa undercard sa Macau," said Joven Jimenez, promoter and manager of Ancajas.

Ancajas, 22, was supposed to face Khunkhiri Wor Wisaruth of Thailand in a non-title bout on November 8 at the Almendras gym in Davao City. He will be replaced by Marvelo Aballe.

"Masayang masaya ako na medyo excited din. Pero preparado ako kahit iba na ang lalabanan ko," said Ancajas, a southpaw who holds a record of 21 wins with 13 knockouts, one loss and one draw.

Ancajas scored a first-round knockout win over Indonesia’s Rochmad Santoso on August 23 in Davao City. Before that, Ancajas stopped Petchwanchai Sor Visetkit of Thailand at the USEP Gym to win the IBF Pan Pacific crown.

Ancajas' only defeat was at the hands of Mark Anthony Geraldo in the bout for the WBO Asia Pacific youth superflyweight title, losing by a majority decision on March 17, 2012.
