Sylvester Stallone says pal Pacquiao 'the best,' shows which side he'll be on come fight time

LOS ANGELES – After the ‘Mailman,' comes ‘Rocky.’

Sylvester Stallone paid Manny Pacquiao a visit at the Wild Card gym on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time), just the latest celebrity to see the Filipino boxing icon in training for his May 2 fight against American Floyd Mayweather Jr.

To see the Hollywood star known for his portrayal of a boxing heavyweight champ in the popular movie franchise ‘Rocky’ and war veteran ‘Rambo’ take a peek at how the ‘Pacman’ is doing in training is not surprising at all.

Stallone has long been a supporter of the 36-year-old Pacquiao, dating back to his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-bantamweight title defense against Emmanuel Lucero in 2003 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.

He even flew all the way to Macau last year to watch the eight-time world division champion destroy American Chris Algieri in 12 rounds of their World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title match.

Again he’s making it known who he is supporting two weeks from now in boxing’s highly-anticipated fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“Of course,” was Stallone’s curt reply when asked by veteran sportscaster Dyan Castillejo if he thinks Pacquiao will be the first boxer to inflict a beating on the 38-year-old Mayweather.

“He’s the best,” added the Hollywood superstar.

Pacquiao, who sparred for 12 rounds over the weekend, was visited by NBA legend Karl 'The Mailman' Malone and his family early in the week.
