ARCH-RIVAL Floyd Mayweather routinely posts photos of his rows of luxury cars, enormous wealth and lavish lifestyle; Manny Pacquiao plays up his love for the simple life.
The stark contrast in the lifestyles of the two boxing superstars became all the more apparent when Pacquiao posted a photo on his Instagram account showing him enjoying a meal inside a small, cramped room.
A caption that read, “Kain lang pag may time hehe,” came with the photo of Pacquiao, in 'pambahay shirt and shorts, eating inside a room that barely had enough space for a double-deck bed, a small table and a television set.

Sought for comment, Pacquiao, through his congressional chief of staff Kit Mercado, made no effort to explain why a billionaire boxer who owns luxurious homes both in the Philippines and the US is eating inside what amounts to a bunker.
“Kahit saan tayo, makakakain tayo ng magana. Kahit sa lapag lang tayo matulog, makakatulog tayo ng mahimbing,” Pacquiao, who on Tuesday was ranked second just behind Mayweather on the list of highest paid celebrities in the world, told Spin.ph.
“Hindi naman balakid sa tao ang maging masaya kahit na kakapurit lang ang bagay na pinanghahawakan niya. 'Yun din gusto ko ipakita sa mga kaibigan ko,” he added.
Asked about the room, Pacquiao's congressional chief of staff Kit Mercado bared that it is indeed Pacquiao’s and it is located in a property he owns in Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani.
“Sa kanya yung room na 'yun. Maliit lang talaga 'yun, halos pagpasok mo kama na saka maliit na mesa at TV, pero dun nga siya mas madalas magpahinga,” she said.
Mercado said she wasn't surprised to see his boss spending a lot of time in that room, saying the Sarangani congressman has always been more ‘at home’ living a simple life.
“Ganun talaga si congressman, mas at ease siya sa mga ganung bagay. Hindi kasi nagbago ang pananaw niya sa pamumuhay maski 'yung kanyang preference sa food,” said Mercado.
“Yung ganung environment (maliit na kwarto), mas at home siya as he knows he can always be just himself. Kumportable siya,” she said of a prize fighter who grew up in abject poverty in General Santos City.
Mercado revealed Pacquiao's food of choice reveals his love for the simple life.
“Madalas nga, nilagang saging at kamote ang kinakain niya sa House (of Representatives). Saka mahilig siya sa mga pagkaing may sabaw. Pork lang ang di niya kinakain ever since,” she added.
“Pag lumalabas nga siya sa Sarangani to talk to his constituents, kumakain pa 'yan ng sago at fishball sa kalsada,” shared Mercado.
Pacquiao’s Instagram post has already attracted more than 93,000 likes, almost 2,000 comments. It has also been shared more than a thousand times on other social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
“We didn’t know that it will be welcomed with so much admiration from the fans. Naipost lang naman niya 'yan to show how he is on ordinary days. Ganyan talaga siya,” she said.
