THE itch to fight remains in the system of Manny Pacquiao, the boxer.

Notwithstanding his status as a newly elected senator, the country’s most beloved athlete admitted he missed fighting inside the ring that he’s now eyeing a comeback, three months after announcing his retirement.

The only eight-time world division boxing champ didn’t hesitate when asked why he unretired following his last fight against Tim Bradley in April of this year.

“Aaminin ko, boxing is my passion. Diyan talaga ako lumaki, hilig ko talaga yan,” he told a horde of mediamen waiting for him after Mahindra’s 105-103 stunner over defending champion San Miguel in the PBA Governors Cup Wednesday night.

    “Nami-miss ko talaga ang boxing.”

Despite serving as a two-time congressman of Sarangani province, and now in his first full term as senator, Pacquiao said boxing still gives him a different high.

“Karangalan ko ang pagbibigay ng honor sa ating bansa. And boxing is my profession kung saan ko tinutulungan yung pamilya ko .. at ayaw kong gamitin na maging livelihood yung pagse-serbisyo ko sa tao,” he added.
