MVP hoping for a knockout victory for Manny Pacquiao in biggest fight of his life

    Mar 21, 2015
“Well, I’m not a boxing expert, pero sana (by knockout),” said PLDT and Smart Communications chairman Manny V. Pangilinan when asked if he sees Manny Pacquiao scoring a knockout win over Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their May 2 title fight. J

JUST like any other Filipino, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Manny V. Pangilinan is hoping Manny Pacquiao can score a convincing win over Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their welterweight unification title bout on May 2 (May 3, Manila time).

By that, the respected sportsman-businessman is looking for no less than a knockout victory for the country’s beloved son.

“Well, I’m not a boxing expert, pero sana (by knockout),” said Pangilinan in a chance interview with Spin.ph.

His hectic schedule however, won’t allow the chairman of PLDT and Smart Communications to watch the so-called 'Fight of the Century' live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“Siguro on TV lang,” the man they called MVP said. “Kaya siyempre panalo dapat si Pacquiao.”

Pangilinan, also the chairman of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP), added he’s one with the entire Filipino nation in wishing well the eight-time world division champion as he fights the biggest battle of his boxing career.

“We wish him all the best. I believe the whole country is behind him and praying for his success on this one,” said Pangilinan.

This developed as Jinkee Pacquiao and all five children of the boxing champion arrived in Los Angeles early Saturday morning (Manila time), to join the Pacquiao as he trains for his 12-round bout against the unbeaten Mayweather.

Pacquiao himself personally fetched Jinkee and the kids – Michael, Jimwel, Princess, Queen Elizabeth, and new-born Israel – at the Los Angeles International Airport to be reunited with them for the first time since departing for the US last February 28.
