MANNY Pacquiao would have chosen to fight reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Kell Brook instead of unheralded Australian Jeff Horn in his ring comeback this April.

Rep. Eric Pineda of 1Pacman partylist said the 38-year'old boxing legend was really leaning toward a fight with the 30-year-old Briton until promoter Bob Arum came to terms with the camp of Horn on Wednesday.

"Ang talagang gusto namin si Kell Brook," said Pineda.

"Pero siyempre nauna na sila (Horn) and they're trying to sell themselves. Anybody who fights Manny parang retirement pay na nila yun.

"If they fight somebody else, they can't get the kind of money when they fight Manny. That's why everybody is jockeying for position."

Pineda did admit the 28-year-old Aussie is really in the running, along with former Pacquiao sparmate Amir Khan.

"Any of those were being considered," said Pineda, who also serves as team manager of Mahindra in the PBA.

A press conference was held in Brisbane, Australia to announce the event, dubbed as the biggest in Australian boxing history.

Arum is set to arrive in Manila in the coming weeks to discuss the plan with Pacquiao, who has yet to issue a statement regarding the fight.

Pacquiao adviser Mike Konz said they still have to discuss with Arum the terms of the fight with Horn.

"We will not negotiate in the media. We will discuss privately with Bob (Arum)," said Konz.
