LOS ANGELES – Apl.de.ap just rapped off Floyd Mayweather's chances in the megafight.
The Fil-Am member of the Grammy award-winning group Blackeyed Peas said Manny Pacquiao is going to inflict the first career loss of Mayweather on May 3 (Manila time) when the two biggest names in boxing clash for the world welterweight unification title match at the MGM Grand.
“It’ s going to be a long fight. I would say, 10th round,” said the Filipino-American rapper, who favors Pacquiao winning the 12-round match the world has long been waiting to see.
The 40-year-old native of Angeles City, Pampanga, whose real name is Allan Pineda Lindo, came over early Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) to join Pacquiao in his morning workout at the Pan Pacific Park here.
He also perked up Pacquiao's early-morning workout with an impromptu rap session with the champ.
Right away he saw for himself how conditioned the 36-year-old Filipino ring legend is.
“He’s in good shape and in good spirit. I believe in him, he’s gonna win this one,” said the popular guest mentor of The Voice Philippines.
“Manny is in good condition. I tried to keep on early here, but I’ve got left behind by a mile,” added the rapper, whose rap exchanged with Pacquiao prior to doing their abdominal exercises was a big hit among the early crowd who were in the park.
Pacquiao’s conditioning combined with talent and skills will spell doom for the 38-year-old Mayweather, according to him.
“Manny is the only one who can get to Mayweather. He’s got lot of movements and throws bunches of punches, one of them would get him (Floyd),” he said.
Apl.de.ap said the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown is way bigger than any of the hit concerts of Black Eyes Peas, adding there’s nothing of this magnitude based on the media hype it has been receiving, be it on television, print, and on social networking sites.
And he vowed to be in Las Vegas to be part of this historical moment in boxing history.
“With or without ticket,” he said with a laugh before finally leaving.
