MANNY Pacquiao still plans to play hoops for one last time before he begins training for his May 2 showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The 36-year-old boxing champion said he’ll likely suit up for KIA Motors’ game against Blackwater on Saturday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
The match between the league’s two expansion franchises is set at 5 p.m., giving Pacquiao the opportunity to see action for the Carnival before leaving for the US later in the night.
The Filipino ring legend said he’s leaving for America early to start the buildup for his highly-awaited encounter with the unbeaten Mayweather in a fight billed as the richest and biggest in boxing history.
“May isang laro pa,” said Pacquiao inside the packed KIA Motors dugout just before the team’s game against Talk ‘N Text Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Baka maglaro din ako sa Sabado," he added. "After Saturday's game pupunta na ako ng LA."
The reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion played against the Tropang Texters despite the possibility of getting injured two months before his rich fight against Mayweather.
The Carnival stunned the Tropang Texters, 106-103, to beat a third powerhouse team in the league following their earlier victories over San Miguel and defending champion Purefoods.
Pacquiao played for six minutes and 43 seconds while going 0-for-2 from the field, including an airball during his first attempt.
