MANNY Pacquiao has personally extended an invitation to visiting rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. to come over at General Santos City and play a game of basketball.
The ball's now in the court of ‘The Money Team.’
“Nag-usap sila kagabi (Tuesday) pero hindi pa nag-confirm si FMJ,” said Pacquiao’s liason officer Aquiles Zonio.
The 39-year-old Filipino boxing legend is currently in GenSan where he set up his training camp for the coming July 15 welterweight title fight against champion Lucas Matthysse.
“Ininvite niya maglaro ng basketball sa preseason game ng MPBL sa Polomolok, South Cotabato,” added Zonio.
Pacquiao, of course, is the driving force behind the creation of the MPBL, which opens its second conference on June 12.
Mayweather is currently in his first Philippine visit with his team for a short vacation, arriving in the country in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The 41-year-old unbeaten fighter has expressed plans of meeting up with Pacquiao for either lunch or dinner, and yes, even play a few games of basketball should his busy schedule would allow it.
Mayweather just came from an overnight stay in El Nido resorts in Palawan and is set to be feted with a farewell party by host Frontrow International on Wednesday night.
He was earlier seen roaming around the Mall of Asia Arena.
‘The Money Team’ is set to leave the country by Thursday. Not unless Mayweather had a change of mind and accept Pacquiao’s invitation.
