A triumphant Manny Pacquiao arrived in the country Thursday night four days after dominating Adrian Broner to retain his World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao returned to a hero’s welcome at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 where throng of his supporters were around.
In his brief arrival statement, the 40-year-old boxing legend thanked his fans and the entire Filipino people for their support in his latest fight against Broner, who he defeated by unanimous decision during their 12-round title bout.
Pacquiao returned to the country amid the good news that his fight with Broner got 400,000 buys in pay-per-view sales which approximately translated into a total of $30 million earnings.
The Filipino boxing great had a $10 million prize purse against Broner but is expected to get even more following the result of the Showtime PPV.
