MANNY Pacquiao, the boxing champ-turned-politician beleaguered for his controversial stand against same sex marriages, issued an apology for his comments on social media but stood his ground on his beliefs.
In a series of videos he posted on his Instagram account, the Sarangani congressman apologized to those he offended for 'comparing homosexuals to animals' in an interview for TV5's Bilang Pilipino 2016.

"Nais ko pong humingi ng paumanhin sa lahat ng mga nasaktan sa aking pagkumpara sa tao sa hayop. Yun po ay kamalian ko at ako ay humihingi ng paumanhin sa lahat ng mga nasaktan," the 37-year-old lawmaker said.
Still, Pacquiao, who seeks a seat in the Senate under United Nationalist Alliance in this year's elections, reiterated that his stand remains against same sex marriages.
"Hindi po nagbabago ang aking desisyon na against po ako sa [same sex marriages]," Pacquiao added.
"Yun po ang paniniwala ko. Ang mali ko lang po is nakumpara ko po ang tao sa hayop so humihingi po ako ng paumanhin. I'm humbling myself before you, before God for my mistake," he ended.
