FORMER world champion Mark Magsayo returns to the ring, as he sees action in the undercard of the WBC welterweight bout between reigning title holder Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn.
The 31-year-old Magsayo will be up against undefeated American Andres Cortes in the Sept. 13 contest (Manila time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The 10-round clash at lightweight is going to be Magsayo’s second under new promotional outfit Zuffa Boxing.
Magsayo had an impressive debut with the promotional outfit co-owned by UFC president and CEO Dana White and Saudi Arabian billionaire Turki Alalshikh, scoring a fifth round TKO of Irish southpaw Feargal McCrory last April at the Meta Apex also in Las Vegas.

That raised the Filipino fighter’s overall record at 29-2 (19 KOs), as he bids for another shot at a world title after briefly reigning as WBC featherweight champion in 2022.
However, Cortes, 29, isn’t just a patsy.
The Las Vegas native carries an unbeaten mark of 25-0 with 13 KOs and is coming off a 10-round decision win over Eridson Garcia under the same April fight card where Magsayo saw action.
But Magsayo will be Cortes’ most formidable foe so far in his five-year pro career.
