JONAS Sultan made a succesful comeback after two-year absence, scoring a seventh round knockout of Sharone Carter on Saturday in Carson, California (Sunday, Manila time).
The Filipino bantamweight put out Carter for good with a barrage of punches, finishing him with a hard right at the 2:29 mark of the seventh round at the Dignity Health and Sports Park.
It was the first fight for Sultan since 2019 when he beat compatriot Salatiel Amit with a seventh round stoppage.
Twice, Sultan staggered Carter, both courtesy of hard left hooks in what appeared to be the beginning of the end for the American fighter.
The fight is an undercard in the Johnriel Casimero-Guillermo Rigondeaux bantamweight title bout, which the Filipino won via split decision to retain his WBO crown.
