JOHNRIEL Casimero pulled off a golden performance of his own in faraway England, capturing the World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight crown with a sensational stoppage of South African Zolanie Tete early Sunday morning (Manila time).

The 30-year-old Casimero floored the dethroned champion twice in the third round before referee Steve Gray stopped the fight at the Birmingham Arena.

Casimero wrested the crown a few hours before Johnny 'Rambo' Chicano ruled the men's triathlon event to win the country's first ever gold in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the New Clark City Complex.

After a slow start that saw Tete taking the first two rounds, the Filipino finally came charging in the third behind his dreaded punching power.

He downed and hurt the South African with two hard rights, and while Tete managed to beat the count, the champion was in obvious trouble.

Casimero then go for the kill, swarming all over the still reeling Tete that promted Gray to stop the bout.
