THE comparison was inevitable.
International matchmaker Sean Gibbons said Jimuel Pacquiao has so far shown qualities of his famous father the first time he fought as an amateur just before the Holy Week.
The 18-year-old Pacquiao knocked down his older foe Miguel Egan with a combination, using his left to set up his right for the knockout punch.
The victory came inside just two rounds for the young Pacquiao, who was part of the charity boxing card held at the Amoranto Sports Complex recently.
Gibbons watched the fight live held inside a mixed martial arts cage and had some nice words for the eldest child of legendary Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao.
“He has a lot of heart and passion for boxing just like father,” said Gibbons, who is also a personal adviser to the eighth-time world division champion.
“He’s a work in progress.”
Pacquiao and wife Jinkee were both not around during the bout, but were proud enough to share the fight video in their respective Instagram account.
Both parents admitted being nervous even though they only watched the fight on video, with Jinkee even having it captioned ‘My son’s first amateur fight! Makuyapan ako (I[m going to faint),’ in her IG stories.
Just days before the fight, a similar video was posted by Jinkee in her account showing his 40-year-old husband assisting Jimuel in training at an undisclosed boxing gym.
