JERWIN Ancajas hammered Japanese challenger Ryuichi Funai on the way to a seventh-round stoppage to retain his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown on Saturday in California (Sunday, Manila time).
Ancajas dominated the game challenger throughout the fight at the Stockton Arena, pummeling Funai with power punches that left him wobbly by the end of the fourth round.
The Japanese was left battered by Ancajas that ring doctors had to check his condition twice in between rounds.
But after receiving severe punishment in round six, fight officials had enough and stopped the bout for a technical knockout win for the Filipino champion.
Ancajas retained his 115-lbs title for the seventh time and improve his record to 31-1-2 with 21KOs.
