THE BIGGEST BOXING spectacle has finally reached a conclusion.
Two of the grandest stars from their respective fields, the baddest man in professional boxing and a Hall of Famer vs. the loudest social media icon and professional boxer, ended in a victory in favor of the latter.
Paul proved that his youthful exuberance was enough to overwhelm the aging Mike Tyson. Paul's boxing record now improves to 11 victories and one lone loss, while Tyson goes to 50 wins and 7 losses. Tyson's battle with Paul is his first boxing match since 2005.
Paul was too much for Tyson
Tyson tried desperately to fight back as seen from the flurry of punches at the start of Round 3 and a beautiful left hook at Round 5, but Paul responded well in most clashes.
Using his speed, Paul was able to surprise the boxing legend. He managed to stagger Tyson at the 3rd Round and eventually followed up until the final 8th round.
At the final round, Paul paid tribute to Tyson at the final 10 seconds, where he bowed down to the 58-year-old icon.
The final score card from the judges was all in favor of Paul: 80-72, 79-73, 79-73. The stats was also a landslide victory for Paul, as he landed 78 punches compared to Tyson's 18. Paul also threw 278 punches which overwhelmed Tyson's 97.
After the battle, Paul was left honored fighting his boxing idol.
"Mike Tyson it is such an honor. He is a legend, he is the greatest ever to do it, he is the GOAT, I look up to him. I am inspired by him and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. This man is an icon, and it is such an honor to fight him," said Paul.
For their involvement in this bout, both fighters will receive a huge chunk of money, with Paul reportedly receiving around $40 million, while Tyson goes home with an estimated amount of $20 million.
There were also hints from the interview that Logan Paul might be next on Tyson's list. Will this dream matchup happen?
