WHILE Manny Pacquiao’s camp had described sparmate George Kambosos as someone who has the same fighting style as his compatriot Jeff Horn, the Australian title challenger insists otherwise.
Horn said the Filipino champion is bound to be disappointed when they face off in the WBO welterweight title fight on July 2 in Brisbane.
“I just hope Pacquiao thinks I fight like George because he’s in for a surprise,” Horn told the Courier Mail.
Pacquio adviser Michael Koncz was quoted as saying Kambosos “fights like Jeff Horn,” main reason why the Australian was hired as the Filipino champion’s sparmate.
The No. 1-ranked lightweight fighter in Australia and ninth in the WBA, Kambosos is unbeaten in 16 fights.
The 23-year-old Sydney native said in an earlier interview that Horn, from Queensland, won’t last six rounds against Pacquiao and he has no problem helping the Filipino get the job done quick.
Horn said he holds no grudge and is glad his fellow Australian is getting some experience at the Pacquiao camp, although he would have liked to have heard a word from Kambosos before he took on the job.
“It would have been nice for George to ring me and say he was going over there to help Pacquiao,” Horn said.
“But if I was in his position I probably would have taken the Pacquiao job too because it will be an unbelievable experience for George.”
