Former Laker amazed by Pacquiao's work ethic

    Dec 4, 2012

HOLLYWOOD - Ronnie Aguilar stood out from among the crowd that tropped to the Wild Card gym on the final day of Manny Pacquiao's training camp.

    Literally.

Aguilar, a young 7-foot-1 center recently waived by the Los Angeles Lakers, is a self-confessed Pacquiao fan, marveled at the work ethic of the legendary boxer from the Philippines as he watched him train for the last time in Los Angeles before heading to Las Vegas.

"He's already a superstar and world champion, and yet he still works hard in training," said Aguilar, born in Los Angeles to a Salvadoran father and Honduran mother.

The 25-year-old Aguilar was the first Central American player to make it to the NBA, although the Lakers waived him prior to the start of the season.

He has played six games with the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-League last season.
