FLOYD Mayweather will likely be stripped of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title after the deadline to declare his intentions on keeping the belt has lapsed.

Mayweather had quickly declared he would relinquish the title after claiming the belt with a unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao in the May bout dubbed as “Fight of the Century.”

But the unbeaten American has yet to drop the strap even after WBO demanded he declare his intentions by July 3 (July 4, Manila time).

The WBO, which does not allow boxers to hold multiple titles in different divisions, has not heard from Mayweather, according to ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael.

Timothy Bradley is the WBO interim welterweight champion (147 lbs.)and will gain the full title if Mayweather is stripped.
