TICKET prices for the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather bout on May 2 (May 3 Manila time) is soaring in the secondary market.
According to a report by Forbes.com on Thursday, secondary ticket marketplace SeatGeek is selling 560 tickets of the bout to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with the floor seats costing between US$32,800 to $54,600.
The cheapest tickets in the secondary market, on the other hand, are being sold at $4,815.
In turn, the rates in the secondary market are going thrice the face value, which is pegged at $1,500 to $10,000.
Prices have been soaring despite tickets still not being officially put on sale with the fight only 17 days away although Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe assured tickets will go on sale this week.
SeatGeek analyst Connor Gregoire said tickets have not been selling briskly since they have not been released to the public. That would change if the tickets finally get released, according to Gregoire.
“The vast majority of buying activity won’t happen until after tickets officially go on sale and sell out,” said SeatGeek analyst Connor Gregoire.
