FLOYD Mayweather said he remains “happily retired,” quashing rumors of his camp having made a deal for a bout with mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor.
Reports say the fight purse has been determined and the boxing match could be formally announced in a few weeks, but Mayweather posted on Instagram nothing has been agreed upon.
“There seems to be several rumors floating around media recently however, let the record show, there hasn't been any deals made in regards to a fight between myself and any other fighters,” said Mayweather.
The 39-year-old Mayweather last fought in 2015, winning by unanimous decision over Andre Berto to ending his career with an unblemished slate.
“I am happily retired and enjoying life at this time. If any changes are to come, be sure that I will be the first to let the world to know,” Mayweather added.
An Irish news website reported McGregor, from Dublin, has agreed to terms with Mayweather on the fight although a contract for the multi-million dollar bout has not been signed.
“The contract hasn’t officially been signed yet because of a third-party holdup, but all the details have all been agreed on,” the Irish Sun reported.
“The fight could even be announced within two weeks.”
But Mayweather shot down the rumors and actually posted two versions of the statement on Instagram.
