REY Danseco of the Philippines has been named Judge of the Year by the World Boxing Council.

WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman made the announcement during the 50th WBC Annual Convention at the Grand Oasis Hotel Cancun in Mexico, handing Danseco the Harry Gibbs award named after the late English boxing referee and judge that officiated fights featuring the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Frazier, and Mike Tyson.

Danseco was one of the judges in the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Andy Lee bout for the world middleweight title in El Paso, Texas in June.
