EUMIR Marcial gets to display his talent as a pro before Filipino boxing fans sometime in March.
MP Promotions, which handles the Olympic bronze medalist, announced that Marcial will resume his pro career by fighting in a boxing card at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex two months from now.
Eumir's first fight for the year
It will be the first pro fight for Marcial in almost a year after undergoing surgery on his right hand and concentrating on his campaign in the 19th Asian Games.
MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons made the announcement after making a courtesy call to Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Richard Bachmann in the company of Marcial, his wife princess, commissioner's Fritz Gaston, Edward Hayco, and Walter Torres, along with MP Promotions executive Jo Ramos.
"Hopefully March 16 is the targeted date. That's what we're looking at," said Gibbons.
No opponent has been named yet by Gibbons.
"It's an honor and privileged to meet with chairman (Bachmann). They're very well and very receptive. They love Eumir's road to Paris," said Gibbons, who was toured around Rizal Memorial during his visit.
"Everybody's thrilled and happy to help and kick this off the road to Paris. And it starts this March in Manila."
Following the fight, Marcial is expected to begin his preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Filipino Olympian is undefeated in four fight (2 KOs), and is coming off a second round TKO of Ricardo Villalba in February of last year.
