THE promoters of the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight will charge tickets for the weigh-in a day before their much-awaited May 2 (May 3, Manila time) fight in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe confirmed to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports that they are charging a fee for the weigh-in, in stark contrast to previous weigh-ins which were opened free to the public.

Ellerbe, however, made it clear the move is not to take advantage of the magnitude of the event and make money, but to control the number of people who will watch the weigh-in since they expect thousands to troop to the venue.

The report added all the proceeds will go to charity with Mayweather and Pacquiao picking the Susan B. Komen Foundation and Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health as beneficiaries.
