LEGENDARY trainer Nacho Beristain believes the much anticipated May 2 title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will draw in the crowd owing to the exciting fighting style of the Filipino southpaw.
Beristain said Pacquiao’s persona as a boxer is very appealing to the people that they won’t hesitate spending on tickets as expensive as $1,500 to $7,000 (around P333,000) to watch the mega-buck match.
And it’s something not worth it in the case of Mayweather, said the Mexican trainer of long-time Pacquiao nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez.
“Mayweather, his style is not very appealing for a $7,000 ticket. But for Pacquiao, of course, people will buy tickets like crazy because they know he will give a great show,” said Beristain over ESPN Deportes.
“At this moment, people will buy tickets because of the Filipino.”
However, Mayweather has been given full control of the tickets for the bout, leaving Pacquiao and his camp expecting to fight before a partisan crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
But as to who is going to win the fight, Beristain is leaning on a Mayweather victory.
He stressed Mayweather has shown time and again that he can beat any fighter as reflected in his perfect 47-0 win-loss record.
“Mayweather has proven to be the best boxer pound-for-pound. History says he has never lost,” said Nacho.
