LOS ANGELES – The customized bus bearing Manny Pacquiao’s giant image is now in town, signalling just one thing – fight week is finally here.
The traditional Pac bus was driven to Hollywood on Sunday night (Monday, Manila time) and departs for Las Vegas 24 hours later for the biggest fight in boxing history as Pacquiao takes on unbeaten Floyd Mayweather at MGM Grand.
The bus, which will carry Pacquiao supporters, will serve as the centerpiece in a long convoy of vehicles of all kinds that will accompany the 'Pacman' in the five-hour journey to the bright light of Las Vegas.
The bus arrived on the day Pacquiao rested from his daily workouts at the Wild Card gym.
Skipping his regular morning jog, the boxing champ and his family attended church service at the Shepherd of the Hills church, where they were joined by couple Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati.
Lunch was again served at Pacquiao’s favorite Japanese restaurant – Kabuki – along Sunset Blvd., the favorite hangout of the boxing champion’s entourage after every Sunday service.
The lunch was fast and swift as Pacquiao needed to be at home around mid-afternoon for a meeting with officials of a giant electronic firm.
As always, his mansion at Plymouth Blvd in Los Angeles was teeming with people when he arrived, up until his platoon of security staff switched the lights off before 10 p.m.
That same atmosphere is expected once the trek to Vegas rolls off on Monday.
