HE’S not yet a legitimate world champion, but Denver Cuello definitely wants his title belt back.
“Sana maibalik po sa akin `yung belt ko kasi pinag-hirapan ko po `yun,” said Cuello in an interview by Sports Radio.
Cuello, 25, is referring to his World Boxing Council (WBC) silver minimumweight title belt, which he left – along with a bag - behind in a taxi cab while on his way to an interview with a cable tv network.
The world title prospect just came back from Mexico over the weekend where he successfully defended his crown against Ivan Meneses with a 12-round unanimous decision.
Cuello lost the belt last Monday.
The top boxer of Aljoe Jaro’s stable is set to vie for the regular WBC crown sometime in November against the winner of the fight between Javier Martinez Resendiz of Mexico and Xiong Zhao Zhong of China.
Cuello has a record of 32-4-6, with 21 KOs.
