GEN. SANTOS CITY —London-based Filipina Christine Allado gets the honor of singing the national anthem when Manny Pacquiao battles Jeff Horn for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title next week in Brisbane, Australia.
The 25-year-old model and theater actress based in London will belt out Lupang Hinirang before a roaring record crowd now pegged at 60,000 at the Suncorp Stadium on the afternoon of July 2 (Manila time).
She joins the likes of Sara Geronimo, Martin Nievera, Ariel Pineda, Jessica Sanchez, Charice and Kyla, among others, who previously sang the national anthem for Pacquiao fights.
Allado, a former Business Administration student at University of the Philippines, has done modeling and theater work including Phantom of the Opera and Alice in Wonderland.
She was also a top 5 finalist in the GMA-7 talent show Are You The Next Big Thing.
But Allado is best remembered for singing and sharing the stage with popular Italian tenor and crossover artist Andrea Bocelli during his Manila concert last year.
