TWO-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming will be coming over to the country to train alongside boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao as the Filipino ring icon prepares for his upcoming welterweight match against Brandon Rios.

The 32-year-old Chinese will be arriving in the Philippines middle of September together with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach. The two will be staying in General Santos City, where Pacquiao is expected to hold his training camp.

Shiming is fighting in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Rios 12-round bout at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort in Macau on November 24. He has so far won his two fights as a pro in the same plush resort and casino hotel in the former Portuguese colony.

This is not the first time Pacquiao will be training alongside a fellow Wild Card gym stablemate as he gets ready for a big fight.

For quite some time, former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan joined the eight-time world champion in his training camp in Baguio as Pacquiao prepared for his fight against Timothy Bradley, Shane Mosley, and Antonio Margarito.

Considered as one of the best amateur light flyweights, Shiming once beat our very own Harry Tanamor for the 48-kg gold medal during the 2007 World Amateur Championships in Chicago.

He won gold medals in the 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 London Olympics and was the world title holder in the same weight category in 2005, `07 and 11.

His wife Ying Ying recently gave birth to their second child in Los Angeles, where the Chinese couple is currently based.
