GLENDALE, AZ. - Charly Suarez scored an impressive third-round TKO win over Jorge Castaneda on Friday night (Saturday morning Manila time) at the Desert Diamond Arena.
With the win, the 36-year old from San Isidro, Davao claimed the WBO international junior lightweight title and improved his record to 18-0 with 11 knockouts.
Suarez made it clear who he wants to fight next.
"I would like to fight Emmanuel Navarrete, the champion in my division," he told SPIN.ph.
Navarrete is the reigning WBO junior featherweight king. The Mexican star holds an impressive 38-2-1 card with 31 wins by way of KO.
The Suarez-Castaneda bout was part of the undercard of an ESPN promotion featuring super middleweights Jaime Mungia and Erik Bazinyan in the main event.
Before turning pro, Suarez represented the Philippines in the 2016 Rio Olympics. He is also a three-time SEA Games gold medalist.
