FORMER world champion Johnriel Casimero makes his Japan comeback after a one-year suspension and faces Tom Mizukoshi in an eighth-rounder non-title bout at featherweight on Saturday.
The fight is set at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan, as part of the Kenneth Llover’s OPBF bantamweight title defense against Ayati Sailike of China.

This will be the first time the 36-year-old Casimero will be fighting in the Land of the Rising Sun after being banned by the Japanese Boxing Commission for a year following his failure to make weight in his bout against American Saul Sanchez.

Although the fight still went on (Oct. 2024) and had the Filipino winning via a first round TKO, the JBC meted Casimero a one-year suspension.
Now being handled by Japan-based Kameda Promotions, Casimero made his ring comeback after a year and fought in Kyrgyzstan last October, only to lose against dangerous Japanese fighter Kyonosuke Kameda.
That brought his record to 34-5-1 with 23 KOs.
But Casimero isn’t expected to get in trouble against the 26-year-old Mizokoshi, who carries a record of 11-5-2 (5 KOs).
Mizokoshi lost his last fight against Guangheng Luan via technical decision in March of this year.
