JOHNRIEL Casimero called out Top Rank chairman Bob Arum anew while taunting unbeaten Japanese fighter Naoya Inoue.
The reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion slammed the 88-year-old promoted for protecting Inoue, the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title holder.
“Keep your fighter running grandBob,” said the 30-year-old native of Ormoc.
Casimero has been locked down in Las Vegas for the past five months since arriving in February for his supposed April 25 unification bout with Inoue. The COVID-19 outbreak forced Top Rank to postpone the bout.
Arum said he was targeting a September playdate, although until now there’s no clear update if the match will push through with two weeks left in August.
Inoue (19-0, 16 KOs) remains holed up in Japan, unclear on when the fight with Casimero that will serve as his debut fight in Las Vegas would happen.
A tweet by Lance Pugmire of The Athletic said Casimero will be fighting on Sept. 26 in a WBO title fight to be shown over Showtime against a yet to be announced opponent.
