BRANDON Rios is exactly the fight Manny Pacquiao needs right now.
Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao’s assistant trainer, on Tuesday welcomed the news that his childhood pal will be taking on the American fighter on November 24 in Macau, saying if the decision was down to him he would have picked a Rios fight over a fifth face-off with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Walang takbuhan,” said Fernandez, who bared that he will meet with Pacquiao on Wednesday to plot his buildup for the Filipino ring icon's long-awaited comeback fight.
The outspoken trainer, however, made it clear that the Pacquiao camp won't underestimate Rios, who he labelled as a good counter-puncher, in his boss' first fight since a stunning knockout loss to Marquez last year.
But Fernandez promised that fight fans can expect a lot more action in the Macau fight compared to Floyd Mayweather's win over Robert Guerrero on Sunday.
Fans, he vowed, will get their money's worth.
“Hindi sayang ang ibabayad ng tao dito. Tiyak ko na hindi ito magiging boring. Sulit sila sa mapapanood nila. Hindi sila magsisi,” said Fernandez.
