ADRIAN Broner insisted he is not in any way intimidated by Manny Pacquiao’s legendary status.

The brash American said he doesn’t fear his Filipino opponent. Neither is he overwhelmed by what Pacquiao has achieved in his colourful boxing career.

Behind such mind set, Broner sees himself emerging victorious on Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time) and wresting the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title belt away from the reigning champion.

“I am not in awe of any fighter especially Manny Pacquiao,” said Broner as he set the tone for Thursday’s final press conference for their 12-round championship bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“I hope he’s in awe of me,” added the challenger. “I don’t duck fights. I don’t care how many weight classes he’s won titles in.”

Broner (33-3-1-1 with 24 KOs) said he took the fight against the 40-year-old Filipino, the only fighter to win eighth world titles in as many divisions, not for the money.

“I didn’t come here to lose or lay down. I came here to get this victory. Real talk,” said the 29-year-old challenger.

Broner’s trainer Kevin Cunningham further added fuel to the fire by promising to strip Pacquiao of his 147-lb title belt.

“I am guaranteeing that Adrian will send Manny back to the Senate, beltless without the WBA title,” he said. “I guarantee it.”

As always, the Philippines’ fighting pride was hardly annoyed by the antics of his challenger, staying calm and collected when asked what he thinks about his first fight in the U.S in two years.

But he hinted about going for a knockout the way he did in his last fight against Lucas Matthysee, who Pacquiao destroyed inside seven rounds in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“I don’t need to dislike my opponent to want a knockout. I’m just doing my job in the ring,” he said.

“If the knockout comes, it comes. We’re hoping to have that opportunity Saturday. I have to pressure him to make him open up. Wherever he goes, I’ll be there,” said Pacquiao.
