FORMER world champion Ana Julaton survived a huge cut and a tough opponent in Perla Hernandez to hack out a majority decision win in her comeback fight Friday night in Yucatan, Mexico.
The 33-year-old Filipina born and raised in California won by scores of 97-93, 98-94, and 95-95.
Julaton sported a bloodied right eyebrow at the end of the 10-round match following an accidental headbutt she suffered in round six.
The win improved her record to 12-4 (2 KOs) and put her right back on track after losing to Celina Salazar by unanimous decision in her previous fight last August.
It also gave her another possible shot at regaining back the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-bantamweight title she once held but lost to Yessica Patricia Marcos March of last year.
Hernandez fell to 10-7-3 (2 KOs).
