JERWIN Ancajas settled for a majority decision against Ruben Casero of Uruguay in his first fight in the U.S. in two years.
Ancajas relied mostly on his jabs and occasional counters to pull off the victory at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

Two of the judges had the Filipino winning by scores of 80-72, while the other judge surprisingly saw the eight-round, super-bantamweight bout a draw at 76-76.
Nonetheless, the former International Boxing Federation super-flyweight champion improved to 37-4-2 (24 KOs) overall, and could possibly be lined up for a world title fight, according to MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons.

A basketball buff, the 33-year-old Ancajas wore Luka Doncic’s No. 77 Los Angeles jersey before and after the match, which came on the same day the Lakers superstar signed a three-year contract extension with the franchise worth $165 million.
Ancajas last fought in the US in 2023 behind a fifth round TKO of Columbian Wilner Soto in Minneapolis in a non-title bout.

He’s currently on a three-fight win streak since climbing at super-bantamweight following his ninth round stoppage at the hands of Takuma Inoue in Japan a year ago for the World Boxing Association bantamweight crown.
Casero’s record now stands at 13-5 with 4 KOs.
