JERWIN Ancajas finally arrived in Los Angeles on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time), raising big hopes he’ll soon be able to fight before the year ends.
Ancajas and trainer Joven Jimenez were met at the Tom Bradley International Airport by MP (Manny Pacquiao) Promotions president Sean Gibbons.
Ancajas had a standby fight against Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico in defense of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown.
But plans fell through with the outbreak of COVID-19.

Top Rank Promotions Chairman Bob Arum told the Ancajas camp he wants to see the champion in the flesh first before he rolls the dice.
Gibbons said Ancajas is ready to fight any time.
“A lot of boxers have a dinosaur mentality of waiting for that phone call when they’re fighting. Jerwin's everyday life is boxing,” said the MP Promotions executive. “So I don’t foresee any ring rust because the guy is working every single day. I think he’s gonna be great, I think he’s gonna be sharp. We just want to really get a date this year, that’s the key.”

Ancajas has already been doing eight-round sparring prior to departure, according to Jimenez.
The Filipino world champion hopes he'll be able to fight once before the year ends. He hasn't fought since December of 2019 following a sixth round demolition of Miguel Gonzalez in Mexico.
