Albert Pagara leaving no stone unturned in buildup for fight vs tough Mexican Juarez

Unbeaten Albert Pagara will take on tough Mexican Cesar Juarez on July 9.

UNDEFEATED Albert Pagara is set to leave for San Francisco three weeks ahead of his crucial fight against tough Mexican Cesar Juarez on July 9.

Along with brother Jason Pagara and Mark Magsayo, the 22-year-old native of Maasin, Leyte will be going to Frisco by June 19 to acclimatize to the cool Frisco weather.

“Mas maginaw daw doon (ngayon), kaya kailangan masanay sila (sa weather),” said ALA International President and CEO Michael Aldeguer in a phone patch on Thursday from Cebu.

Aldeguer met with the three boxers last week in Los Angeles at the famed Wild Card gym, where Albert has been training for almost a month now. The other Pagara and Magsayo arrived in the U.S. last May 31 accompanied by trainers Edito and Edmund Villamor.

The ALA Promotions executive said he’ll go straight to San Francisco to meet up with the boxers.

Pagara (26-0, 18 KOs) is facing the biggest fight of his promising career against Juarez, the tough Mexican who gave reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. hell before dropping a unanimous decision loss last December.

His brother Albert (38-2, 23 KOs) has no opponent yet, but is already assured of fighting in the undercard in the main event featuring his younger brother.

Magsayo is not seeing action in the fight card presented by ALA International and ABS-CBN Sports, but will be joining the Pagara brothers in training as he prepares for his next fight in the undercard of Donnie Nietes’ title defense of his WBO light-flyweight championship on Sept. 24 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
