IS amateur boxing the next to benefit from the generosity of San Miguel Corp.?
Marcus Jarwin Manalo has been elected as the new president of the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines, which now also has top SMC executive Alfrancis Chua as part of its Board of Trustees.
Chua serves as the sports director of the SMC Group and governor of Barangay Ginebra.

His entry to the ABAP Board gives a big boost to the sport that has been the country's consistent medal producer both in the world championships and the Olympics.
If ever, this would be the second collaboration between the SMC and MVP groups - which has been the longtime backer of amateur boxing - after their work with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
Manalo, the former ABAP secretary-general, succeeds Congressman Robbie Puno as head of the federation.
Puno remains with the association as chairman, while Ricky Vargas, current SBP president, is named as Honorary Chairman.

Atty. Raul Daza was elected as vice chairman, while vice president is Michael Angelo Vargas.
Other members of the Board are Olympic silver medalist Nesthy Petecio, former Congressman Oscar Moreno, Mark Burgos, Atty. Arnel Casanova, Reinaldo Bautista Jr, and Atty. Emilio Jose Abelita Jr.
