Philippines wins three gold medals in Asian Para Tenpin Bowling

THE Philippines captured three gold medals in the first-ever Asian Para Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong.

Jamie Manginga claimed the Philippines’ first gold by ruling the men’s TPB8 (wheelchair) singles, before taking the all-events crown in the same division while Christopher Chiu Yue and Angelito Guloya finished fifirst in the TPB9+9 doubles.

Fourth place

The Philippine team also won three silver and four bronze medals to take the fourth spot in the eight-nation meet. Hong Kong (10-6-2), Chinese Taipiei (4-4-2), and Malaysia (3-4-1) are in the top three of the medal tally.

Manginga amassed 1067 over six games in the men’s TPB8 (wheelchair) singles, just one pinfall ahead of compatriot Augusto Hernandez, who took the silver.

    Manginga totalled 2684 in the all-events, winning by three over Venugopal Jayachandra of India.

    Before winning the Asian crown, Manginga already had the 2017 Asean Para Games doubles and team bronze medals under his resume.

    Chiu Yue and Guloya tallied 2302 to beat Low Chang Hong and Chua Wee Kiat Wilson of Singapore by 54 pinfalls.
