Philippines captures bronze in World Bowling Youth Championship

THE Philippines captured a bronze medal in the team of four event of the 2018 World Bowling Youth Championship in Detroit, Michigan.

The team of Ivan Umali, Kenzo Umali, Praise Gahol and Merwin Tan lost in the semifinals to eventual gold medalist, 472-437, and settled for the bronze medal.

The Philippines finished in the qualifiers after six games after tallying 5147 pinfalls with Umali totaling 1310 in six games, Tan 1286, Malig 1281, and Gahol 1260.

Umali and Tan are listed in the Philippine team bound for the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

Bea Hernandez placed fifth in the girls’ singles, missing the semifinals by just three pinfalls from fourth-placer Caitlyn Johnson of USA (1332-1329).
