Angel Tolentino plays consistent throughout to hold off John Abad in SM Southmall kegfest
Angel Tolentino rules the Southmall monthly finals of the SM Millionaires Cup that featured 36 players.

ANGEL Tolentino played consistent to survive John Abad’s late strikes for a 193-180 victory in the one-game championship round of the 6th Monthly Finals Open Masters Finals of the SM Millionaires Cup on Sunday at SM Southmall.

Tolentino took the lead early and held on by consistently converting spares, while misses in the middle frames proved costly for Abad.

Although he displayed a solid game of a seasoned player, Abad, a 48-year old life insurance underwriter, said luck was simply on his side on Sunday.

“I’m just lucky. Medyo gigil lang (si John) e. Ako naman niro-roll ko lang. Kusang tumutumba yung pin e!” said

"The last game was pure luck. Pure luck."

Tolentino, who started bowling in 1995 when he was practically forced to join his the company bowling team, bagged P50,000.

“Kasi kulang yung players sa office. Then my boss at Prudential taught me how to play.” 

“I’m not a serious bowler. I play for fun. If I lose I lose and if I win I win!” whether it’s a league game or an open tournament.

The Southmall event lured 36 participants from Metro Manila and other areas of Luzon, with the top 8 receiving cash awards, according to SM Bowling Center Division Manager CJ Suarez.
