THERE are bigger things to expect from Filipina bodybuilder Luzviminda “Mama Luz” McClinton following her victory in the Phil-Asian Pacific International bodybuilding competition held over the weekend in Cebu City.
The 33-year-old McClinton will vie in the World Body Figure and Fitness Bodybuilding Championships in Oklahoma on November 10, and then will proceed to Berlin, Germany for another world-class competition on November 24.
McClinton, who has a 13-year-old daughter, was in fighting form when she graced yesterday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate. She spoke of her passion for the sport and goal of providing greater honor for the country.
“I love this sport. It’s my passion. I’m in love with it. But it entails a lot of sacrifice, too,” said McClinton, the first Pinay bodybuilder to bag the Pro Fame Figure during the 2010 World Championship in Las Vegas.
To stay in winning form, McClinton said he follows a strict no-salt, no-oil diet -- nothing but steamed, grilled or boiled food.
“I’ve been doing this for nine years now, everywhere I go. What’s nice about it is nananalo naman ako (I win),” said McClinton during the weekly forum also sponsored by Pagcor, Shakey’s, and Smart.
While she gets help from supporters, McClinton said it would be a great boost if she could draw the support of the government as she competes in the international stage.
“I’ve given pride and honor to the country, but this time I seek the help of the government. Perhaps President Aquino can help me,” she said.
