ALMOND Vosotros caught fire in the final quarter to power La Salle past Letran, 64-45, and book a quarterfinals berth in the Filoil Flying V Pre Season Hanes Premier Cup Monday at The Arena in San Juan.
Silent for the first three quarters, Vosotros came alive in the pivotal fourth by pouring 11 of his team-high 16 points. The senior playmaker personally made an 11-2 run for the Green Archers, highlighted by three straight triples that put La Salle beyond reach, 55-39, with 4:41 left to play.
“Unang shoot ko pa lang kasi pumasok na agad," said Vosotros afterwards. "Kaya sabi ko sa sarili ko pag open ako, i-shoot ko ulit."
The Green Archers improved to a 6-1 (win-loss) record and bounced back from a sorry 53-60 loss at the hands of the University of the East Warriors Saturday.
“We redeemed ourselves in today's game,” said Jason Perkins of the win. “Our game against UE wasn't our usual game. We were outplayed, outhustled. It was really hard for us to swallow.”
Jeron Teng came through with 11 points to compliment Vosotros offensively.
Mark Cruz was the lone player in double figures for Letran with 10 as the Knights formally bow out of contention even with an even 4-4 slate.
