DENNIS Orcollo and Lee Van Corteza struggled with their breaks and saw their four-rack lead slip away, losing to Sweden, 7-8, to bounce out of the PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool on Wednesday night at the Robinsons Midtown Mall in Manila.
Orcollo and Corteza managed to erect a 6-2 lead despite several illegal and dry breaks but their luck ran out as the Swedish pair of Dimitri Juson and Ronni Regli won six of the final seven racks to the disappointment of the hometown crowd.
With the exit of the second-seeded Philippine pair, the eighth-seeded pair of Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes and Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante is left to fly the flag in the round-of-16 as they play Canada on Thursday night.
Junson and Regli won three straight racks, including a break and run out, in the 11th rack to make it 5-6.
Orcollo and Corteza got to the hill, 7-5, when Dimitri Juson scratched on the break but another dry break from Corteza allowed Sweden a chance to take the 13th rack.
After tying the match at seven, Sweden broke and ran out the 15th rack to complete the come-from-behind win.
