RHANZELLE Yong made a good impression in his college debut with San Sebastian, scoring 16 points in the Stags’ 81-78 victory over University of the Philippines on Saturday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

The former Staglet star and nephew of former Stag and now San Mig Coffee center Ian Sangalang shot 7-of-13 from the field in 18 minutes of play in topscoring for San Sebastian.

CJ Perez, however, paced the Stags in the game with his all-around play, adding 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Bradwyn Guinto added 11 points for the Stags.

Dave Moralde had 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals for the Maroons.

Mike Tolomia had 19 points, Mark Belo added 13 points, and Far Eastern University beat Mapua, 89-77, in the second game.

Raymar Jose finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Achie Inigo had 11 points for the Tamaraws - a team in transition following the departure of now-PBA cagers Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia.

“This tournament, we treat this as a league where we will learn as a team and play with each other,” said FEU coach Nash Racela.

Josan Nimes, making a comeback with Mapua, added 28 points, and Jessie Saitanan pumped in 15 for the Cardinals.
