TEAM Rest of the World wasted little time capturing the title as it won its first ever Roobet Reyes Cup in an emphatic 11-4 victory on Sunday at Makati Coliseum.
The powerhouse visiting squad were comprehensive in winning the first two matches of the night, leaving no stones unturned after getting beat in the first two editions of the event.
Francisco Sanchez Ruiz was named as the MVP as the US Open champion finally got one after being the lone holdover from the first iteration of the event.
And how fitting it was that it was FSR who pocketed the clinching 9 as his duo with Shane Van Boening put the event under wraps with a dominant 5-1 win over Robbie Capito and Duong Quoc Hoang.
Everything just went the way of Team ROW as Duong missed his shot on the 2 in rack 5 that allowed the visitors to go on the hill, 4-1.
El Ferrari also made an impressive bank on the 2 to get the visitors out of trouble as that freed the table up for the triumph.
Also part of the winning squad were Fedor Gorst, Joshua Filler, and Aleksa Pecelj, with Ralf Souquet serving as captain.
It was indeed a tough showing for the Asians from the get-go.
Capito's foul on the jump in the first rack of the team match might have been an ominous sign of things to come as Team Asia fell to Team ROW, 5-3, in the team match.
Pecelj got the better of Duong Quoc Hoang in the crucial fifth rack as they had an arms race on who could pocket the hanging 9 on the corner, as Carlo Biado also left an open shot at the 5 as Filler easily cleaned the table up for the win.
