ROBERTO Gomez lost to Skyler Woodward of the United States, 11-7, on Thursday in the last 16 of the 2021 World Pool Championship in Milton Keynes, England.
Gomez failed to score after the match reached 7-7, bow out of the $250,000 tournament.
The 42-year-old Gomez's exit ends the Philippines’ campaign in the month-long series of tournaments organized by Matchroom Pool in Milton Keynes. Gomez and Jeff De Luna also saw action in the World Cup of Pool and World Pool Masters.
Gomez will receive $4,000 (around P190,000) for reaching the last 16 of the competition.
The tournament is now down to four players with Albin Ouschan playing against David Alcaide Bermudez, and Oliver Szolnoki battling Omar Al Shaheen.
Ouschan beat Woodward, 11-5; Bermudez won over Max Lechner, 11-4; Szolnoki defeated Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, 11-9; and Al Shaheen outclassed Tomasz Kaplan, 11-6, in the quarterfinals.
