RJ Ramirez took charge in the closing minutes as Far Eastern University erased a nine-point deficit to edge San Sebastian, 84-80, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Monday in San Juan.
Ramirez finished with 18 points, seven in a 13-0 Tamaraws run to close out the game after trailing by 71-80.
His putback off Arvin Tolentino's missed triple gave the Tamaraws an 81-80 lead before sealing the victory with a split from the foul line with 14.7 to go.
Axel Inigo scored all his 16 points in the first half, going 4 for 4 from beyond the arc.
Richard Escoto and Arvin Tolentino combined for 20 markers for FEU.
FEU will enter the quarterfinals with a 7-1 win-loss record, the seeding in the round of eight still to be determined with other teams yet to complete their elimination round assignments.
"Before we huddled two days ago ni-remind kami ni coach (Olsen Racela) na No. 1 or no. 3 doesn't mean to us. We just have to be consistent and play hard," said assistant coach Eric Gonzales, who called the shots in lieu of Racela.
Ryan Costelo had 17 points for the Stags, who dropped to 6-2 but still assured of a quarterfinal spot.
